SD Worx headquarters, Antwerp,

In 2022 SBa won a competition to design the new headquarters for SD Worx, a leading European payroll and HR services provider with headquarters in Antwerp. The site occupies a prominent corner on the east bank of the Scheldt, and serves as a component of the strategic regeneration of the Eilandje, the island-like old port area of Antwerp.

The building comprises two sentinel-like structures of differing heights seated on a lower plinth. The commercial programme of the upper structures has been planned to consider a future beyond the immediate requirements of the brief: to anticipate flexible working patterns and changing tenancy. The workspaces are enhanced by a green courtyard over the entrance lobby; a garden terrace; a conservatory; a roof growing area; a panoramic terrace and a loggia. The public facing lower plinth structure provides through-routes for pedestrians and cyclists, and houses an exhibition area, an auditorium, and a café.
