The Drill Hall recording studio, London,
UK, 2017-2025

An inner lining of raw construction is set within the existing brick shell of a former Victorian 'drill hall' to create a variety of interior volumes for a rehearsal and recording studio.

The building's new inner shell acts as a buffer between the high energy activity of the interior and the calm, verdant conservation area of Turnham Green. High-specification acoustic functions are contained within a new basement level, allowing the pitched hall above to be adapted for different uses.

Project duration: 2017- 2025
Gross internal area: 814m2

Project team: Farrokh Aman, Stephen Bates, Oliver Choyce (project architect), Jaroslaw Owsianny, Michael Hughes, David Kennnedy, Mark Tuff
