Leuven performing arts quarter, Leuven,
Belgium, 2019-2027

At the core of this scheme to transform a seven hectare former hospital site is a strategy to reimagine and present existing buildings and public spaces as an 'open house'. These historic and cultural assets are sheltered collectively beneath a new roof.

As well as a set of purpose-built performance spaces, the new structure aims to provide a social and cultural destination. Its special roof signals the presence of the new complex at the monumental scale of the neighbouring Augustinessen Monastery and Predikheren Church.
