Stephen Bates at debate organised by the Flanders Architecture Institute for the London Festival of Architecture
Stephen Bates will take part in a debate organised by the Flanders Architecture Institute as part of the London Festival of Architecture to explore the social and spatial challenges British and Belgian architects share, and what we can learn from the differences.
While many leading architects from Flanders and Brussels spent some of their formative years in London, the Open Call system run by the Vlaams Bouwmeester has allowed London architecture practices to work in Flanders, often in collaborations with local architects. The recently published Flanders Architectural Review N°15 'Alliances with the Real' documents the 'long-term entanglement between the two architecture cultures'.
