Tour & Taxis residential quarter, Brussels,
Belgium, 2015

A consortium formed by Sergison Bates, AWG and noAarchitecten won the competition for the development of a residential district on the former industrial Tour & Taxis site in Brussels.

The ambition is to create both a new urban residential neighbourhood of approximately 900 homes within close proximity to Brussels city centre to the south, and a new public park to the north.

A series of distinct, varied spaces are sited along a broad public avenue known as the Dreef that runs parallel to the 275m facade of the historical Gare Maritime. Residential buildings are organised around public courtyards and private shared gardens.

Competition: 2016
Project duration: 2016 -
Gross internal area: 93,000 m2
