Jonathan Sergison's Teaching/Practice opens at the Venice Biennale

TEACHING/PRACTICE is an exploration of the relationship between teaching and practice through the notion of process, which is a common aspect of both activities.
The film aims to elucidate elements of the development of architectural projects, which are rarely acknowledged. The film examines architecture as a creative and reflective practice, ever evolving in terms of the ideas that contribute to its making, and significantly enriched by collaborative efforts.
London filmmakers Bertie Miller and Dave Waters have created a documentary film of the students’ work in Jonathan Sergison’s teaching studio at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio over a six-month period, in parallel with his work in practice. A recorded conversation with Irina Davidovici exploring aspects of teaching and practice and their interconnection is included as voiceover.
