The first exhibition under the lead of S AM Director Andreas Ruby reflects his vision for the Swiss Architecture Museum: without thresholds, contemporary, collaborative, Switzerland-wide.
Whilst the image of Swiss architecture, especially internationally, is still strongly characterised by the 1990s and minimalism, the constructed reality is more regionally differentiated and heterogeneous: “Swiss architectures” rather than “Swiss architecture”.
In collaboration with 162 architecture practices from all regions of the country, each of whom nominated projects they regard as 'seminal', the Schweizweit exhibition offers a visual atlas of recent architecture in Switzerland. The exhibition shows the commonalities and differences in the themes, content and formal strategies Swiss architects focus on today.
