'Alternative Histories' exhibition opens on 23 March

The exhibition curated by Jantje Engels and Marius Grootveld, in collaboration with Drawing Matter and the Architecture Foundation, includes 84 specially commissioned models and will open at the Cork Street Gallery in Mayfair on Saturday 23 March.

The curators asked 84 contemporary architects "to imagine a collaboration with ones from the past. To take a drawing from the Drawing Matter archive and imagine, as if it was their own, to further the idea's present into a new project. The strings of thought and fragments of vision in the historic material become pieces of the new ideas and designs."

At once an exhibition of new architecture in Europe and an enquiry into how architecture is now being made, Alternative Histories presents a shared past and present that are kaleidoscopic and undefinable, where there is always room for more and different points of reference.
